Animal Advocate Monuments and Memorials (Part One)

Share this:

Celebrating the animal advocates who founded the modern animal protection movement in the United States

I am not shy about my love of history, my advocacy for animals, and my perspective that it is incredibly important to know on whose shoulders we stand. Whether you are an animal advocate, an animal lover, or someone who has adopted an animal from a shelter, this episode is for you.

I am also enthusiastically vocal when I find out about memorials, monuments, graves, cemeteries, statues, fountains, poems, films, or novels that celebrate animal advocates as well as animals. (Check out any number of episodes I’ve produced about animals in film, animals in literature, animal cemeteries, and animal monuments.)

In today’s podcast episode — which is accompanied by an extensive blog post complete with photos — I delve into the stories of remarkable individuals who pioneered the modern-day animal protection movement in the United States. Listen to the lives and legacies of these compassionate trailblazers who tirelessly fought for the welfare and rights of animals.

Because there is so much to say, this episode is just the first part of three!

Collectively, this trio of episodes will celebrate unsung heroes and iconic figures; look at the challenges they faced and the victories they achieved; and contemplate the lasting impact they made on animal advocacy.

AND, as we journey through history, we discover the monuments and memorials dedicated to these extraordinary advocates and their contributions to creating a more compassionate world.

Be Inspired

So, take a listen and be inspired by the passion, determination, and unwavering commitment of the animal advocates who dedicated their lives to giving voice to the voiceless and protecting the most vulnerable creatures among us.

Donating = Loving

For over twenty years, my work and podcast have remained free (and ad-free) and vibrant thanks to support from listeners, followers, and readers. I have no staff, no interns, and no assistant. What you see (and hear and watch) is a one-woman labor of love that is also my life and my livelihood.
