Stop Doom-Scrolling and Start Joy-Browsing: Good News for Animals from 2023

WARNING: This podcast episode contains only good news!

Despite the tragedies of 2023, there were also numerous reasons to celebrate. And I’m here to share some with you, especially as they relate to animals and nature. So, stop doom-scrolling and start joy-browsing as we explore some good-news stories from this past year.

The term “doomscrolling” was coined in 2020 to describe the habit of compulsively consuming distressing news. Not surprisingly, research spanning several decades has consistently cautioned against the potential detrimental effects of excessive exposure to negative news.

To help prevent the kind of burnout that comes from focusing only on what’s bad in this world, I’m hosting a 3-hour-long online workshop called Preventing Compassion Fatigue: Avoiding Burnout, Cultivating Resilience, and Practicing Self-Care…all while being an effective advocate for animals.

About Colleen

Hello, and welcome. I’m Colleen, aka The Joyful Vegan, and I’m here to give you the tools and resources you need to eat, cook, travel, and live compassionately and healthfully.

Donating = Loving

For over twenty years, my work and podcast have remained free (and ad-free) and vibrant thanks to support from listeners, followers, and readers. I have no staff, no interns, and no assistant. What you see (and hear and watch) is a one-woman labor of love that is also my life and my livelihood. If this labor has impacted your life in the past year (or the past decades), please consider aiding its sustenance by becoming a patron or by making a one-time donation. Your support makes all the difference.
